Re: Something has changed with BT Infinity FTTC. High Ping spikes when streaming video

So it looks like Matt has managed to get my connection going through a slightly different route through the BT network.

This is a new traceroute below, while the GF is watching netflix. I also played a full match of Dota while she was streaming.

5 less hops too. Much more stable connection:

Glad to hear that the connection is looking more stable now.

Are you happy that this fault is now resolved or would you like to leave the case open and test the connection again in a week or so?

Matt

Not to hijack the thread or anything but any chance you could try working your magic on my connection? I have the same problem as OP.

Re: Something has changed with BT Infinity FTTC. High Ping spikes when streaming video

I have the same problem as OP. Played Dota last night while my wifi watching netflix and had ping spikes every 20-30 sec. I have pingplotter screenshot ready to post here tonight but if there is any chance to look at my connection too Matt?

Re: Something has changed with BT Infinity FTTC. High Ping spikes when streaming video

@Matt-S @JohnC2

Any chance either of you two could take a look at the same issue for me?

I've just been offered a competitive gaming contract starting in November, but for months now my connection has become virtually unusable before midnight, and certainly not usable when others are on the same connection.

As with an earlier user, its unusable when others are simply watching a video on Youtube, despite me having a router with perfect QOS setup internally.

It's getting to the point now that unless I can get something changed soon, I need to change my ISP to one which is more reliable with latency issues. I know a couple of Gamers/Streamers/Youtubers that have actually received help with their connection with BT and they actually advised me to contact you guys on here. (I can inform you who they are if I need to).

As you can see, the latency issues begin the second I enter BT's Network.

As with the User on the first page, I too take 15 hops to get to the same end destination......

Whereas his problem was fixed by yourselves when the hops were reduced.

Ping when IdlePing when Idle

Ping with Stream onPing with Stream on

@Matt-S @JohnC2

Even with properly setup QOS on a 3rd party router there is 0 difference.

As you can see with the Ping on my Router, there is only a negligible 3ms difference..........

But the second it hits the BT Network, the connection is completely unusable, no matter how much I limit the streaming device through QOS.
