Spam box empty

I have had nothing in my spam box since the end of February. I wouldn't be bothered, except that the occasional important email gets put in spam in error, and I have to check what's there every few days.  But there's nothing, either wanted or unwanted. What's happened? How can it be fixed?

Re: Spam box empty

So you are saying you want the spam detector to put non spam emails into the spam folder for  your peace of mind. Perhaps the spam detector is working correctly and doing the job it is supposed to.

Re: Spam box empty

If it's simply due to the spam detector working "correctly", it's a sudden unannounced change of practice. Spam should still appear in spam box, I assume, for a limited period. If emails are misdirected into spam, we can find them. If everything the BT thinks is spam is deleted, then it will delete the occasional important email. and we'll never know.

Re: Spam box empty

The mail that goes into the spam box is only the mail that BT are not sure about. Mail they regard as spam never reaches you at all and is deleted at the BT servers. Mail that BT deem to be ok is sent to your Inbox, anything indeterminate is sent to the Spam box. Either BT is getting better and they are not sending false positives to your Inbox or they are getting worse and deleting false positives. Are you aware of any mails that you should have received and didn't?

Re: Spam box empty

Thanks for this. To be honest, we aren't aware of any emails that we should have received and didn't. Before the end of February, we probably got 3 or 4 legitimate emails per month that were put into spam and found there. It's the unexplained change to this pattern that puzzles me.

Spam filters change continuously.

Re: Spam box empty

I mark many emails as spam.  They all continue to appear in my inbox. I have also received a phishing email wanting money , which came into my normal inbox. Nothing goes into spam which is a worry because often people are advised to check their spam for important mail shot emails. So either BT is hiding everything it deems to be spam or it is not filtering spam at all. I suspect the latter. Ever since I first got a computer, way back in the days of ME I have never had an empty spam box!

Re: Spam box empty

If it wasn't filtering spam at all you would be getting hundreds if not thousands of spam mails a day.

Re: Spam box empty

FAO liquorish Very unhelpful response. Nothing that I mark as spam goes into spam instead it continues coming into my inbox. I have had 1 item of spam which 2 days later reverted to my inbox. I have also had 2 items of spam which were not spam. I am paying the same if not more for an appalling service.  I I try to delete something it is hit and miss - sometimes it will delete other times I get the message " un unexpected error occurred" . I also cannot access the app on my iphone as it messes up my desktop. In fact the app reviews are now 1 star . As nothing else seems to be working properly why do you assume the "spam" is? My husband has microsoft and has no problems I have a mac so I suggest the problems are linked to BT's inability to cope with Apple.

@gill68

The answer was in response to your question regarding whether BT filtered spam at all. The perfectly reasonable answer that I gave is yes they do, or you would be inundated.
