Spam filter issues

I would say over the last month or so I have been getting around 10 emails a week that are obviously spam. It will be stuff like DVLA link expired when I don't drive or from a bank I don't belong to.  Just wondering why these are suddenly getting through BT's spam filter?

Has anyone else noticed something similar?

Re: Spam filter issues

Yes, for about the last month or so I am having to block and mark as spam several emails a day. This was never an issue previously. It's as if BT's built in spam system has been turned off. Notably, most of the spam I am getting *appears* to be coming from gmail addresses.

Re: Spam filter issues

Spam filtering is not a science, it is a black art and is like playing whack a mole with the spammers. Sometimes the ISPs win sometimes the spammers win. Spam filters eventually catch up.

Re: Spam filter issues

I agree, but it doesn't seem to be catching *any* spam at the moment.

Re: Spam filter issues

I must be lucky then, I very rarely see any spam. I won't say never, but it is very close to it.

Re: Spam filter issues

I've now just received a request from one of those Russian dating sites!  These are obvious spam and I have no idea why they are suddenly coming through.  It's very frustrating.

Re: Spam filter issues

There's  spam mail coming through from a particular site but the sender's address changes. Seems to originate from Eastern Europe.

Report spam from the BT Mail app.
