Re: Speed between router and laptop is nowhere near actual braodband speed

You need to post both the adsl stats from the router and the results of a BT speedtest but from what you say your IP profile could be stuck at 2000kbs

Re: Speed between router and laptop is nowhere near actual braodband speed

in order to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) http://speedtester.bt.com and post the results .

are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Do you have any phone extension sockets in your home?

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

Re: Speed between router and laptop is nowhere near actual braodband speed

your connection looks ok with the correct profile for your speed and a throughput of 13945

with a 16000kbps profile and a throughput at present of 13945kbps I would expect a download speed of 1750/2000kb/s

Re: Speed between router and laptop is nowhere near actual braodband speed

Really... I thought my download speed would near enough match my broadband speed.

Or am I being naive??

Re: Speed between router and laptop is nowhere near actual braodband speed

Hi your download speed is relative to your ip profile which is always lower than your connection speed to allow for network operating overheads
