Strange Results of Speed test

Well afterhaving some shocking slow speeds over this last week i decided to do a speed test to see what is going on.

Now i dont know much about the internet but i know i have been lagging alot in the games i play online, mostly wow and starcraft 2, and i have not been able to buffer youtube videos not even at 240p which is very pathetic.

Below is a screenshot of my speed test results, see if you can spot why i am confused before reading on.

Now after reading the FAQ because i dont know what all those terms meant i am confused as to why my download achieved was higher than the ip profile as the FAQ said it cant happen, and also if that is the speed im running at why cant i even buffer a youtube video on 240p when i am the sole user of the connection, i also cant even download any faster than 80kbps be it musc from itunes, patches for games or drivers for hardware.

I did the speed checker for my area aswell and it said max connection is 2mb and predicted is 1.5mb why am i so low or do i need to call BT and ask them to upgrade as we have had the 500kbps connection for a few years now, we dont even run on a homehub old school voyager modem for us.

Sorry for wall of text and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Re: Strange Results of Speed test

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) .

are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Do you have any phone extension sockets in your home?

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
