Saturday morning I noticed that I dropped from an almost 80Mbps connection on Infinity 2 to 50Mbps. I enjoyed 80Mbps since I joined, over 2 years ago I believe.
I have tried changing all equipment but it won't budge from 50Mbps. Contacted support on Saturday and despite an engineer being arranged to arrive today, no one came (I've since arranged for another but won't come until Friday).
I was wondering why I would suddenly lose all this speed?
The only thing that comes to mind is that I've been having odd behaviour with the new BT smart hub where I've noticed it losing net connection and even locking up network ports. I've since changed back to the hub 5 and wonder if my IP profile will raise again? If not then I'll have to consider lowering down to Infinity 1.
I've copied my vital statistics below (changed network cables etc recently hence short connection time).
Download speed achieved during the test was - 47.74 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 40 Mbps-49.77 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 49.77 Mbps

Why the move to the (Not So) Smart Hub?
Hi both,
Please see results of availablility checker. I was offered a smart hub since I was experiencing capacitor whine or similar on the HH5.
An update.
An Openreach engineer turned up today (!) and has conducted line tests etc. He's completely stumped as to why my speed suddenly dropped but did explain that it could be that more people are on the service in the area but in there instances more kit is placed in the exchange.
I was told I'd hear back after him making some calls but haven't heard yet unfortunately.
The engineer commented on how good the copper and signal actually was so at the moment it is unexplained.
Any help with the stats I've posted?
Can you do a tracert to bbc.co.uk and post the result?
Sure,
