Re: Suddenly slow speeds but high sync and ip profile

Last night I was contacted by a very helpful person from the India call centre who has stated that my problem has now been escalated and he was going to speak to the openreach manager and arrange an engineer to visit my house FOC due to being escalated and diagnose the problem. He then phoned back within 10mins to say he had arranged an openreach or special fault dignosis engineer for next week and he said without me prompting that my line should have a stable speed of around 10-12mb and the reason the slow throughput is due to HEC errors, if you have to many in a short space of time, hence the reason for the engineer working backwards from my house to rule my wiring out and then back to nearest point/mast towards the exchange to find the source of the problem.

He did say that they would change a few settings to see if they could boost my speed short term until the engineer arrives next wed but would promise anything great, however, I can see that my hub has changed back to fast from interleaved etc so at least they tried something.

Does anyone think the above is a viable explanation or not? I know my exchange is not hot VP at least.

Re: Suddenly slow speeds but high sync and ip profile

with download speed of only 423 on a 9203 profile I still think the problem is at the exchange and not your home

Re: Suddenly slow speeds but high sync and ip profile

HI your hub is still showing fast and your download speed is very low but as you have an engineer coming i would leave it to him to solve the problem if after the visit you still have issues please post back

Re: Suddenly slow speeds but high sync and ip profile

EXCELLENT!!!

BT engineer has been out this morning and found a fault on the cable between the box outside on the phone post and the cabinet. He swapped the pair over that supplies the signal and fault was away, he said he will get BT to reset my speed or something over next 24h, was very helpful and explained everything as he went along.

One thing I meant to ask though what does ressetting speed actually mean or do? apart from the obvious 🙂

Here are my current results from BT tester and thats after the hub rebooting also so no drop of speed this time.

HEC errors are also just slowly rising now instead of rocketing

Re: Suddenly slow speeds but high sync and ip profile

Just when I thought my problems were over after the engineer clear the fault etc I come in tonight and find this!

Does anyone think that when BT reset my settings or profile at exchange that it will make any difference? Engineer said once he emailed his job results etc back to BT today that they would do this or should I contact mods?
