I am a BT customer, and my local Sunbury cabinet was been updated to FTTC in December 2012 and is "accepting orders" according to the BT Openreach site. However I cannot find anyone at BT to tell me when I can upgrade to Infinity. My street is a private road which the road freeholder will not allow Virgin to dig up to offer a fibre broadband service.
My BT contract expires in December 2013. If BT cannot update their service by then I will move my business back to SKY.
Can anyone help me here? This is appalling service that no one can answer a simple question as to whether my line will be upgraded and if so when.
Just ran a check for you buddy on your PC:-
BT FTTC broadband availability
You are connected to the Sunbury telephone exchange.
When I ring BT they say that Infinity is still not available and when I plug my phone number into the BT line checker it says I can only get up to 7Mb on ADSL. This is my frustration. One site says it's good to go, whilst the retail BT site says not yet available and to register interest - which I've done about 6 times!
Is this a case of the BT left hand not knowing what the BT Wholesale right hand is doing?
Just ring them up on that number. When you type your phone number in, instead of your postcode, what does it say then?. Cause really your phone number is more accurate than the postcode. PM me your phone number now and I will have a look for you, that is if you want too?.
are you sure your street cabinet has been upgraded? not all street cabinets on your exchange will be upgraded for fiber. if cabinet not upgraded then SKY will not be able to offer fiber either
SKY's website says they cannot offer their version of infinity either - but at least they'd be cheaper than BT.
One of the BT websites says I'm served by Sunbury Exchange and cabinet 37 - but I have no idea where that is nor whether it has been upgraded, can be upgraded or will be upgraded....this is a hell of a way to run a business, BT must be investing millions in this infinity rollout but completely fail in communicating to customers when they can sign up to it.
