Superfast Fibre 2 Unlimited installation problems

Go to solution
I'm having problems with the installation of Superfast Fibre 2 Unlimited. Here's what's happened so far.

Tues 29th Jan - Openreach engineer arrives can't work out where wires in telephone sockets already in property go, no phone line has ever been connected here. No direct line of sight from flat to allocated telephone pole. Comes up with solution to change poles and fly wire over neighbours drive. Need to get neighbour to permit access.

Weds 30th Jan - Neighbour says it's ok for them to access his property. new appointment made for Thursday.

Thurs 31st Jan - Neighbour refuses access to property. Another solution found to fly wire from original telegraph pole to helpful neighbour accross the road and then over here. This is done & Openreach engineer puts master socket in & connects home hub up. Tells me landline is fine but broadband needs something doing somewhere else. Home hub starts flashing pinky purple apparently it'll take a while to be activated. Receive activation notification within an hour, hub continues to flash pinky purple.

Fri 1st Feb - Home hub still flashing pinky purple, call BT, Openreach engineer arranged for Saturday AM.

Sat 2nd Feb - No engineer arrives, call BT get bounced around departments. 1 person says Openreach came but we weren't here, then another says the Openreach appointment wasn't actually booked for this morning & all looks fine from their end. Told that an Openreach appointment booked for Tuesday pm, just received text message saying I need to book an engineer visit.

This is all confusing what do I do? Will Openreach come on Tuesday?

Welcome to this user forum.

Do you have dial tone on your phone?

The phone line has to be working before broadband can be activated.

Then get hold of a cheap wired phone (less than £10), and see if the line is working.

The dial 17070, you will get an announcement telling you your phone number.

Check this against the phone number that BT have allocated you, to make sure its the same.

If you get no dial tone, and BT have said the line should be working, then you need to make a few checks within your house. These cannot be done without a phone.

Is there any noise on your phone calls? Dial 17070 and select option 2, there should be no noise between the announcements.

What does your master phone socket look like?

Master socket with one socket

Or

Master socket with two sockets
