Switch from copper broadband to 4g broadband

Hi

I have copper broadband which only gives me 1mb-3mb which is so slow to the point if I want to download a movie I have to start downloading it before I go to work. If I had 4g broadband I can get speeds of up to 30mb. Is there anyway I can switch from copper to 4g broadband with BT?

Re: Switch from copper broadband to 4g broadband

Hi @Daveslater1,

Yes, BT do offer 4G Broadband.

I would recommended checking your availability on the USO Checker: https://www.bt.com/broadband/USO

This is a government scheme that allows you to request at minimum 10mbps. You can see the 4G Packages and when you input your postcode - if you have strong enough signal - it will likely recommend 4G.

Re: Switch from copper broadband to 4g broadband

 Hi albertj

Thanks for reply, I checked out the info you gave. We have a strong 4g network in our area. But when I login to my BT account I don't get the option to switch to 4g. The only way I can get it is to raise a new order without signing in. This would mean paying for copper and 4g at the same time. If I cancel the copper broadband this would result in me having to pay a lot of money to do so. If BT switched me they would gain an extra £20 odd a month from me.

Enter your phone number into this form and display the results here, but edit out your phone number before you post the results.

Re: Switch from copper broadband to 4g broadband

Hi I've tried to attach the screen shot but it says the file is too large. Any idea on how I can shrink the file size?

It didn't give me that option. I've now resized it and posted it thank you.

@Daveslater1

Not a good connection at the moment, and no faster options available.

You should be able to swap to 4G, but how long has your existing contract left to run, and do you use your landline phone number?

Re: Switch from copper broadband to 4g broadband

AFAIK, what you seem to be wanting is not going to limit your landline obligations, there is nothing stopping you ceasing your landline service and going entirely mobile 3,4,5G , using BT or any mobile operator of your choice , but you won’t be able to exempt yourself from any early termination charges for your landline / broadband simply by using BT for your mobile service, it’s not like upgrading from ADSL to FTTC with the same provider mid contract.
