Synergy 5500 another question.

Go to solution

Excuse my continuing naivety but I assumed that, even though I don't subscribe to Caller Display Service, I would still be able to see who was calling me if their name and number was in the phone's Phonebook. Two people have phoned me who are in the phonebook list but the display just show "EXT Call'.

Not sure but I dont think  the number is even sent to your phone without caller display active

incidently check out privacy at home which I think  gives free caller display

"privacy at home."

To what does that allude. Is it a phone setting - I haven't seen that in the menus.

BT Privacy is a service that you can have provided onto the phone line which gives you caller display free of charge if you make the required number of calls. I think it's about 1 or 2 a month.

You can order this product by dialling 150 for customer service, speaking to an advisor and requesting BT Privacy.

If you were to request Caller Display, this is a chargeable service.

With BT Privacy you would also be registered with the Telephone Preference Service to reduce markedly the number of unsolicitated marketing calls.
