TL-WR841N as a replacement for SmartHub 2 (FTTP), slow speeds.

Go to solution

Hey,

I have FTTP (900meg) and I'm getting a bit annoyed with the whole home wifi issues that are going on at the moment. So thought I'd experiment with my own setup.

I have a TL-WR841N "cable" router. I have managed to connect to the BT network, however, it's super slow when connected via ethernet.

Ethernet into Smarthub 2 I get 900 meg easily on a speed test on fast.com from my laptop.

Plug in the T-link router, use the same username/password combo as a PPoE setup (bthomehub@btbroadband.com and blank, but I did try BT too) and I get speeds of about 70meg.

Any ideas what I've missed from setup? I've updated to latest firmware etc.

As that device only has a 10/100M WAN port, you are not going to get 900M from it!! You need a device with a Gbit WAN port.
