Terrible infinity 2 speeds

so my girlfriend signed up for infinity 2 with an expected speed of 76mb.  This seemed pretty decent coming from a 7mb ADSL

Line with talktalk

So far its been in a week and the speed hasn't gone over 5mb up 11mb down.  The BT speed test says she has an IP profile of 76mb.

Router has been reboot several times.  At the moment it currently sits at 4mb down

Any suggestions?

Re: Terrible infinity 2 speeds

Just a couple of starting suggestions on what may end up rather a long thread ....

Is this wired or wireless? Try to get a wired test if at all possible.

If wired, try seeing if connecting to a different LAN port on the router helps.

Re: Terrible infinity 2 speeds

All the computers in the house are wireless n, however I've tried every channel and even on my tablet right next to it via WiFi. No joy.

So, I've got a Ethernet to USB adapter for my tablet. At my own house, this works great and get about 70mb so I know it works.
At my girlfriends, still 6-7mb.

Honestly, at these speeds it shouldn't matter if I'm wired or wireless.  Having such a difference shows there's something wrong.  At my house, I get about 45mb on WiFi at the other side of the house

Re: Terrible infinity 2 speeds

How long since you had the Infinity installed and how many times have you rebooted the Hub?

Re: Terrible infinity 2 speeds

A week. Rebooted it probably every day.
At mine it hit 30 on the first day and juggled around for a few days until it settled, however it was never as low as 6mb. I can't get it any higher

Re: Terrible infinity 2 speeds

Stop rebooting the hub. Leave it a few days.

Re: Terrible infinity 2 speeds

Saying that, Ive been away since Wednesday night so I highly doubt it'll have been rebooted wed, Thurs or Friday. When I came round today it had dropped to 4mb. I rebooted and its at 6mb now

Re: Terrible infinity 2 speeds

If you have eliminated channel interference then could you try a different router?

it could be you've got a sick home hub

Re: Terrible infinity 2 speeds

Rebooting the hub is (almost always) harmless. However, don't reboot the modem.
