Terrible wireless connectivity!!

A quick search through the forums shows that this is obviously an extremely common problem with BT routers.
The connection from the router to wireless devices is just simply not good enough in comparison with other providers.

Just wondered if anyone has had any luck improving the signal strength without having to purchase new routers/wireless boosters or any additional hardware for that matter.

Someone else suggested updating drivers but then could not explain how this could be done on an iPhone/iPad/Xbox etc.

Thanks for any advice.

Re: Terrible wireless connectivity!!

Well, I think the silence says it all. Clearly there is no solution to solve these shockingly embarrassing routers that BT dish out but to just go out and buy a new one to replace it.
It's poor from BT, I definitely will be switching once my over priced contract is up.

Re: Terrible wireless connectivity!!

Hi

There could be a solution. Have you downloaded a small program called inSSIDer? This will show you a graphical display of other wireless routers within your area.

The solution may be as simple as just changing the channel on the hub to a less conjested one.

this suggestion was for another OP on a thread you posted on. The originator of the previous post had a wifi problem with his laptop and it was suggested a check to see if wifi card driver update would help

at no time did anyone suggest that your wifi problem could be solved by a driver update.

I would start with inssider as already suggested and take it from there

Ah right, I did think the information was absolutely useless at the time. I'll try the inssider like the person above said, seems like he knows what he's on about.

the suggestions that were made to the previous post originator were pertinent to his wifi problem with his laptop.  you were the one who hijacked the thread claiming you had a similar problem and the wifi signal from HH was not strong enough

Your assumtion on the previous thread were all incorrect and your problem is not the same - wifi yes but not the same

just try inssider

Re: Terrible wireless connectivity!!

Yes I understand that it was for someone else's problem you've just written exactly the same thing again.
I didn't realise I had to start a new thread. I apologise for "hi-jacking" someone else's, lol.

I'll try the persons above solution.
