Re: The New BT YouView STB

Does anyone know when BT will start to offer this as part of their new customer packages?  I was about to order but now think I should hold off.

Re: The New BT YouView STB

There's already one person reporting having received it as a new customer.

Anyone know of any stats about the box or dates of announcements?

Not sure on the dates etc, had mine for months 😛

It has a lot newer chip inside and is a lot lot quicker to use (EPG and menu navigation etc)

Cheers. Useful info.

Is that 4x4GB memory or 4x1GB ?

Is it possible to tell from the Youview software how much system RAM memory is allocated? Could some of that physical memory be for updateable BIOS/firmware?

16GB in total.

There's no way of knowing how it's allocated as far as I know.

Re: The New BT YouView STB

This is the storage spec for the G3 Humax DTR-T1000.

The 640MB DDR memory will be the fast system RAM used by the CPU. I assume the Flash memory stores the core boot BIOS/firmware.

I was just wondering how that has changed for the new G4 box.

16GB seems a pretty big jump even for the slow Flash memory. Though of course you can buy a 16GB USB stick for a tenner these days. Smiley Happy

I think the main thing of interest would be to know how much expensive DDR RAM the new G4 box has. You wouldn't expect as much as a PC, but the more the better.

umpire - how do you get those memory figures?

The 16GB memory for the new box is Samsung K4B2G08460

Re: The New BT YouView STB

From an official Humax specification brochure.

Google "HUMAX - DTR-T1000 pdf leaflet.pdf" and it's the first in the results list.
