Very interesting.

Indeed. I have genuine concerns now as my wifes friend uses the internet for almost everthing (ebay, paypal, online shopping and BANKING!!). I know she recently set her iPhone up to work from the same internet connection. Thats full of phone numbers. Would the nasty 'b' be able to get onto this also?

I still can't make contact!!Smiley Sad

I fail to grasp why anyone would use a windows computer to do something as serious as banking/financial stuff.

Thanks RogerB!! The Hotmail Flooder Trojan fits the bill. I hadn't heard of that one.

I collected 3 trojans recently just by visiting a Science News website trying to find out more about the peat fire plume from Russia as I'm in Scandanvia next week. I say three, as that's how many McAfee found. I detected them as my network traffic suddenly surged (even though no applications were active) and I was getting Java errors and pop-ups.

Anyway, I don't know how many McAfee missed. I require my machine to be trustworthy so I always re-build from a clean image immediately just to make sure. There's so much stealth/rootkit malware around or new variants not being picked-up with the even the latest Anti-Virus it's the only way to be safe. Takes a bit of time (patching is the biggest time consuming item - Microsoft, Adobe, Java....). It might be because IT Security is my job and I'm above average paranoic as a consequence Smiley Sad or maybe the it's other way round.

At the risk of sounding boring .... Smiley Sad

If you search my posts on here ....

You'll see I make several references to McAfee software ....

None of them ... complimentary ... I'll say no more.   🙂
