Is or is not BT and openreach one and the same???????
Do I hear that BT would like to be serious in the mobile phone business??
Here is our problem
I live in a not spot in one of the beautiful National Parks. Under government poicy we are threatened with a 25 metre Towering Mast to be put up towering over moorland and trees and fields. The tower will be seen for 5 -10 miles.
so ,you say, forget the beuty of that park and let them put up the tower to get 50 homes mobile phone covers and some 4 square miles of moors. and 73,000 visiting tourists all smart phone in hand!!!
90% or the village want mobile phones but not the tower.
it seems a secret, but BT openreach, is just bringing fibre optic superfast broad band to this National Park village.. GREAT!!!
But in the USA when they bring fibre into villages and small "not spot" towns they put up picocells or even microcells to give mobile phone cover of 500yds to a mile+ OFF THE FIBRE broadband network. NONE OF THIS OLD FASHIONED LINE OF SIGHT WEATHER DEPENDENT MICROWAVES!
HENCE NO TOWERS?
Now vodafone have adoppted a ROSS picocell method of getting a village fom not spot to the community, BUT more than half our folk are BT ISP users.
HAS ANYONE IN BT ACCEPTED YET THE COMMERCIAL ADVANTAGES OF GETTING MOBILE PHONES TO NOT SPOTS WITH A FIBRE INPUT BY OPENREACH
all we need is a picocell on our village hall which is in about 30 feet from where the FTTC will end up???
Surely BT broadband fibre can talk to BT mobile phones, to get a village onto an ON SPOT--- gain commercial, advantage and _ save the national Park from this monster of a 25 meter towering mast.
ANYONE IN BT THAT CAN HELP???? or are you not interested in mobiles to not spots which get 73,000 tourist visitors??

What about a bit of lateral thinking and making the mast an attraction eg; something like this
