Re: Thinking About Swicthing To Infinity

Thats great test results mate. But you are in the minority in the UK, Remember you are London based your bound to get great results there, not so much for the rest of the UK.

Please click on white star to the left and say thanks if I have helped you at all!. 🙂 Thank you. Some handy links Copy & Paste:-

Re: Thinking About Swicthing To Infinity

Gaming wise I'd stick with Virgin if your pings are that low.

BT Infinity is good for downloading alot of data and streaming.

I'd suggest Be for gaming can't wait for there fibre to come out at some point.

ping www.bbc.co.uk

Pinging www.bbc.net.uk [212.58.246.91] with 32 bytes of data:

Ping statistics for 212.58.246.91:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 7ms, Maximum = 8ms, Average = 7ms

All looks pretty good and it is.... for downloading, uploading and streaming etc BUT for some reason gaming (XBOX 360 mainly Call of Duty) is **bleep** poor for me. It was better on my old 16 down barely 1 up AOL ADSL+2 connection with a 20-30 ping.

Hihi,

You're not the only one with COD issues. Since you have good internet you might find you are host most of the time. In the good old days being host could give you an advantage but since the developers put in "lag compensation" to even it up it has been right pain for people with good fast internet as they tend to be host.

The Xbox/PS3/COD forums are full of people with fast broadband complaining. The devs did adjust the lag compensation some months back but no difference.

Cheers,
