Third-party routers - sync speed

Go to solution

I soldier on with the HH6. Overall performance not bad but I get irritated with the 14 day re-boots and lack of user options.

I have tried a couple of third party routers in the past - the TP link VR900 and the Asus AC68U - but both had inferior sync speed to the HH6 and went back for refund.

Is it the case that BT somehow speed restricts third party routers?

I'm looking at present at the option of the VR600. Can anyone comment on its sync speed in comparison with a BT Hub?

Hi,

No, BT don't care what make of modem or modem/router you have connected.  They will not be restricting sync speed on them.  I found my Fritzbox synced at 79999/19999 mbps while the Hub 5 supplied with Infinity showed 79490/19790.

It may be a minor incompatibility with the FTTC DSLAM chipset.

ECI cabs use Lantiq chipset and Huawei cabs use Broadcom chipset.

My VR600 is connected at 79999/199999, the same (I think) as I used to get with the HH6. Not going to get anything higher on Infinity 2, anyway! The VR600 is currently showing 93686/29463 as maximum rates possible.

@licquorice - not quite; although I'd have a good view of the cabinet out of this window if there wasn't a house in the way!

Many thanks. I'll see how many pennies there are in the piggy bank.

I only get a measly 31 Mbps here!

On infinity 1 my VR 900 syncs at 54999/9999 and is rock solid.
