over the past 5 years but have always maintained my old BT dial up account name
as my main email address (by remembering to make a dial up connection every 2-3
However, now I am with BT I wonder if it is possible to transfer this
dial up account name as one of my sub-account email addresses so that I don't
need to bother dialling up. I have phoned up about this 3 times, but I get put
through to an Asian call centre and get fobbed off with poor or incoherent
advice. I hope this isn't representative of the customer support experience I
can expect as I am in an 18 month contract.

Getting the call centre to understand what you want, is going to be difficult.
In order to get your request directed to the correct team, it would be better to contact the BT Care Team (forum moderators), using the link below.
You may have to wait a few days for a reply, but the result will be worth the wait.
Do not delete any of the e-mail that they send to you, until the issue is resolved, as they have a tracking number.
I just phoned them and asked them to make my old account into a sub account.
They understood me just fine and done the transfer.
