Hi there
I am running Outlook on Windows 10 for my email. I have always (for years) moved unwanted emails into my Trash folder where I leave them for a specific amount of time then delete them manually. This works for me for the odd occassion I need to revisit an email. In the last two weeks my Trash folder has started to empty itself. This morning I watched the 'count' going down in front of my eyes. Has something changed? I have changed no settings and do not have the delete on exit box ticked. From other peoples posts it suggests this is one by BT rather then Outlook. Any ideas?
The trash folder empties on a 30 day rolling program.
If you don't want things deleted don't put them in trash. Set up a "Pending" folder until such time that you have made up your mind that you no longer want it.
Thank you - a pending folder is a good idea. I will do that. However I havea lways kept 1 years worth of emails in Trash with no problem at all until last week. Strange.
You were probably migrated from BTYahoo mail to BT mail last week.
Hi,
This started happening to me too a few weeks ago, all of a sudden I can’t find any previously deleted emails that may occasionally be of use. No warning or choice given. Very annoying, not impressed. If anyone has a solution other having to manually create your own makeshift temporary folder it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Lewis
I find it very odd that people delete emails yet still expect them to be available for ever.

Don't delete them!!
They usually are until you permanently delete them from your trash..
There are never ever any items in any of my trash folders, mail or files. I either permanently delete items immediately or don't delete them at all. You soon learn whether to delete or not.
Delete is delete, not a pending tray.

You seem to have a weird idea what "delete" means and what a "Trash" folder is for. I would say it does not mean "I'll may be delete this or may be I won't so I'll hold onto it by placing it into the trash which I will use as a pending folder until I can make up my mind and "permanently delete" them.
Do you place house hold items that you may need at a later date in your house's "trash bin" or do you expect your "trash bin" to be emptied within a certain period of time.
As has already been said, place them in a pending folder until you can make up your mind.
