Hi,
I have a smart hub 2. however, as many know you cant split the 2.4 and 5ghz channels on different SSID.
I have an old smart hub 1, which I'm thinking I could use as an AP to just broadcast an SSID exclusively for the 2.4ghz channel. rather than spending money on an new AP
Has anyone ever done this?
Thanks,
Countless people.
Just give it an IP address outside of the DHCP range of the master hub, turn off DHCP and connect the 2 together LAN port to LAN port.
I'm not sure it will work as an AP as I suspect it will throw a wobbly during boot-up when it can't find a WAN connection but if you want to try it, set it as follows
Set a static IP address, you can't use 254 as that is your SH2, I suggest you use 192.168.1.1.
Disable the DHCP server (you don't want two DHCP servers on one Sub-net.)
If you want, set the Wi-Fi SSID and password to clone the SH2
Connect the Hub 6 and SH2 by Ethernet connection Lan to Lan
Edit: Dash it! that's twice in one day I've duplicated a reply from another user

It will work just fine, although it will keep flashing purple or orange because it has no DSL input
