Have you tried connecting to the test socket at the rear of the master socket
Your speed has dropped due to an increased noise margin if you can try the suggestions below and post back we can advise further
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

are you connected to the master or test socket? do you have other sockets apart from the master?
