Yep at those speeds you'll have great user experience. Always pays to work out exactly what you need broadband to do. even watching films etc will only use a part of what your getting.  if your needs change later ,well then reconsider.

However, if you could get (say) 20% more at NO cost - why not?

I presently get very similar speeds to you - I'm upgrading on 19th - i'll let you know how it goes.

Re: UPGRADE OF 40MB TO 80MB SPEEDS ?

I'm having an issue with upload speeds via Ethernet on my PC...

My download speed is averaging 75mb on all speed test websites. However my upload is 7.5 on them all.

The upload on my iPad shows the full 20mb upload... I've tried the firewall and routers settings but no such luck.

Any ideas?

Re: UPGRADE OF 40MB TO 80MB SPEEDS ?

Well my order seems to have disappeared from the BT web site in the last 30 minutes. Don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

No apparent increase in speed though, even after a modem reboot.

Re: UPGRADE OF 40MB TO 80MB SPEEDS ?

Hi.Just to want share with you about my try to upgrade.

I place d the order on Thursday 12/04 via online form.I had confirmation that BT received order and on my account was showing it will be complete on Friday 13/04 till midnight. That never happen.Later in the evening i received the message, they have difficulties with my order, and need to investigate, will back to me on Tuesday(today).Till 4 PM i don't have replay from bt,so i phone them.Nice ladie told me they need 2 more days to investigate, because its up to some bt suppliers. This suppliers told them I'm not able have higher speed, which is not true.My estimated is 79,9 up and 2 down.Dont know what to think about it.

Re: UPGRADE OF 40MB TO 80MB SPEEDS ?

Mine is a different problem. I have upgraded Bt speed checker said 31/6 ip profile is still stuck at 29/5. BT open reach engineer came over weekend as I complained of a fault which he did find and he checked my line with his machine and said my max achievable was 51/7.9. So go figure!!

Re: UPGRADE OF 40MB TO 80MB SPEEDS ?

Hmm this is odd.

The maximum you can get on Infinity 40MB on a speedtest is 37.5 right?

This morning, following my order request, I have now got a tiny boost and consistently get 38. This means I must be on the new speeds.

But on speedtester.bt.com my profile is still 38.71?!

How can I be getting a true 38 download speed and still have a profile of 38.71? *confused*

EDIT: Restarted the router (not the modem), and now I am getting 42Meg actual download speed on speedtester. So the profile was clearly stuck. I bet my BT vision is going to cause problems with this again. I have had issues with sticky profiles.
