UPnP Port forwarding not working correctly on Home Hub 6.0A

Hi, I've recently changed from Sky Broadband to BT Broadband. I was supplied with a Home Hub 6.0A. However, since changing providers my QNAP NAS (TS-853A) has stopped working correctly. It seems that the UPnP Port Forwarding is not working correctly. These ports are used for several of the QNAPs services, and should be set up automatically by UPnP, which is enabled in both the QNAP and HH6. However, only some of the ports are being set up. Several of them, do not appear as UPnP forwarded ports, even if i manually click the Apply to router button on my QNAP. I have manually set up the port forwarding for these ports in the HH6, but they still dont work and the related services on the QNAP do not work.

Here is the setup from my QNAP. As you can see, the QNAP can see the HH6 and obtain its details.

But the QNAP can not apply or use all the UPnP ports  which are forwarded.

I have manually set up the ports with "Error" on them in the HH6 port forwarding page. But they still do not appear to work.

For information, I have firmware SG4B1000B540, and UPnP and firewall are switched on. It makes no difference if i switch the firewall off in the HH6.

Unless i can get these forwarded ports to work, services like accessing my QNAP cloud from outside my home will not work, so i will be forced to go reluctantly back to Sky.

Any advice on what to check or change next??

No need to change ISP, just get a proper router.

In the meantime, try disabling UPnP if you have manually set up port forwarding.

Hi Licquorice. Can you recommend a router that will work with BTs network and where the UPnP port forwarding etc will work? I've been looking on-line but details of compatibility as well as reliability are scarce or confusing.

Any VDSL modem/router will work fine.

You need to decide which features are important to you, but price is generally proportional to wireless speed.  Have a look at the TP -Link, Billion, Asus or Netgear models although the is some doubt whether the Netgear models will implement BT's /56PD version of IPv6.

Just make sure it is an integrated VDSL modem/router and not an ADSL modem/router or pure router without integrated modem.

If you are in any doubt, post the make/model you are interested in for confirmation.

Hi,

I ended up buying a TP Link Archer VR900. It was almost plug and play and has been running spot on for almost 24hrs now. No dropouts and UPnP port forwarding worked exactly as it should straight out of the box. Signal strength isnt great according to my iphone, £100 from PC World who price matched with Amazon.

I'll let you know if i have any issues with it.
