Hi,
I recently decided to purchase my own VDSL modem and seperate gaming router after months of troubles running multiple PCs with Steam gaming and sessions crashing (BT HomeHub 6 & BT Infinity).
I went with a Vigor300 VDSL modem & Netgear XR500 Nighhawk Pro gaming router. Everything works like a charm now except for BT TV Internet based channels like Nat Geo HD or Discovery HD and MTV.
My Vigor300 VDSL modem is plug and play with the PPPoE settings for BT Broadband setup on the Netgear XR500 Nighhawk Pro gaming router. I have one Ethernet cable connected from the Vigor300 VDSL modem connected to the WAN port of the Netgear XR500 Nighhawk Pro gaming router and my BT TV box is connected to LAN Ethernet port 1 on the Netgear XR500 Nighhawk Pro gaming router via a PowerLine Ethernet Adaptor.
Prior to this everything was working fine for the BT TV Internet channels using the same PowerLine connected to my BT Home Hub 6.
I would appreciate any assistance, many thanks.
Solved! Go to Solution.
You need to enable IGMP snooping on the Netgear, if it supports it.
Should have pointed out that my VDSL modem is actually a Vigor 130!
Thanks for the response, I have seen this posted a lot as I have done my research. Unfortunately the Netgear XR500 does not have this feature, it does have a "Support British Telecom (BT)IGMP Proxying" setting. This does not work.
Hi,
I am having major issues and can't view any of my BT Plus channels. I found a couple of solved answers relating to my setup where a mod provided assitance to a BT customer, then one of the tech team phoned where they remotely accessed the line in question and 'changed some parameters': https://community.bt.com/t5/YouView-from-BT/IPC-6023-error-with-a-Netgear-router/td-p/1842462
It was something to do with some updates they made last autumn that caused issues with multicast??? I am not sure if I called BT customer service and tried to explain this apparent solution on the forum then I might get somewhere? Painful journey ahead....
Exactly the same issue with the same set up.
Strangely I get the channels working perfectly for 3 or 4 minutes then they stop and IPC6023 error returned.
If I then change channel and revert back the picture is back!
Have contacted BT Tech support who are looking into it - as they cannot get a consistent data feed from the box!
