Hi all while doing a install of a new network printer i checked the router logs to see what data came back while i was setting up the static ip and found lots of the following entrys....
:This Rule has been applied successfully: [id:1, InternalClient: 192.168.1.***, External Ports:(0,0), Internal Ports: (0,0), Protocol: ]
Usualy followed by 2 instances of.... :Updating port mapping rule (1) by UPnP
The ip address is of our main pc and the entrys go back for 4 days and yet im sure nothing has been installed apart from the printer software (hp officejet) for over a week
Ive scanned the whole pc 4 times with both norton internet security and malwarebytes (2 in normal and 2 in safe mode) Is this something i need to worry about as google seems to be hinting that port 0 isnt used and often blocked by default by isp's?

If you do not know what it is, then turn UPnP off, its not normally needed, and can present a security risk if you do not know what is causing it.
Yea i see your point, i turned it off and rebooted the router to get a new ip, when i checked this afternoon the entrys are still being generated and yet the task manager is showing very little uploading (router says ive done 692640 MB Uploaded / 12741 MB Downloaded in 10 hours (not bad considering the pc was only on for 3 of those hours)
Reset the home hub to factory default, then turn off UPnP right away, before you connect anything else.
I left replying for a little while just to be sure of the results, did a full reset of the hub (pin hole, 20 sec) and turned off the upnp.
After setting up all my devices again (all 27 of them!) i found the ps4 wouldnt work with some games so had to enable upnp again to get it to work properly which is a bit of a bummer, it should also be noted my bufferbloat readings have also dropped a little with general surfing feeling more snappy.
That being said ive watched the logs for 8 days now and there has not been 1 upnp entry for anything at all so im at a loss now as to why the ps4 didnt like having it off.
Maby its just a bug with the smarthub firmware as im guessing all the staff was assigned work on the smarthub2.
Will keep an eye on it for another month or so till im happy its settled.
Thanks for the help keith
