Unstable Broadband connection

Hi all and merry Christmas

Ok I seem to have a problem on my line somewhere and BT India CS have been very polite but no help at all I'm afraid, ok my problem is that anytime we get any kind of wind or rain my broadband since rate drops faster than a thing that's drops really fast :-), I've had an engineer visit to the house already and as u can imagine the weather was perfect when he turned up so he couldn't hear any of the noise on the line or detect any problems, so he checked what he could and replaced the line from the junction box at the front of the house to the main nte5 socket (which he replaced also), I know I'm on a long line 6.36km from the exchange from what the engineer said but when we have a good run of weather I get 2.5mbps which I'm more than happy with, but over Christmas we again had some windy weather (I'm not talking gale force winds here either) and now my ip profile has dropped to 750k again from 2500k now I run router status on my computer and the graph for the noise profile during the past couple of days looks like a reading from a major earthquake or summit.

Anyway on to the technical bit I suppose 🙂

Any help or advice would be great, also I run a fully shielded wire for the modem connection connected via a ADSL Nation faceplate and the hole network is connected via a TP-Link Gigabit switch the router is netgear DG834V4 running DGTeams latest firmware (have tried different routers but this 1 holds the best connection) other routers I have tried are a Home Hub 2 type A, Home Hub 3 and a belkin N.

Thank You

Gary

Re: Unstable Broadband connection

Hi

Yeh i know it wiull rise mate until the next time we get anything more than a slight breeze 🙂 but i live in NE Scotland so we get wind and rain alot, so when that happens speed will drop again and tbh its getting beyond a joke now every week i seem to be on the phone to BT and every week they promise the problem will be sorted in a few days, the last time i was on the phone reporting a noisey line the guy rang back to tell me the problem was now sorted while all the while all u could hear is crackle pop and hiss LOL.

Thanks

Gary
