Unwanted voicemail texts

I am recieving texts to tell me that I have new voicemail messages.

These are spam.

My phone does not ring so somehow they are putting them to voicemal without ringing my phone so I am unable to bar them.

I do not want voicemail at all so how do I remove it

@ThaneOfFife Without the text message notification, how do you know you have a voicemail? I've had a call in with BT recently because I do not get the "cassette" icon on my phone's diplay to tell me I have outstanding voicemails and only get the text message. This causes me to miss loads of voicemails. BT have told me that the handset voicemail icon is not an active feature on their network.

I quite simply want to decide who phones my number

All my contacts know I do not want voicemail

The reason I dont want voicemail is, spammers can now send messages that go straight to voicemail

therefor I am unable to bar them
