Upgrade Query

Hi I recently received an email stating that my broadband was being upgraded and sure enough on the day stated my connection went down for a while and a reset was required later in the day.

My question is would I expect the Noise margin to jump from say 6 to 24.9 throughout the day. I know the margin will vary but since I had a line fix corrected to sort out slow download speeds I have only ever seen the margin go up as high as about 12.

I have been checking the setting a few time in a day since the upgrade and sometime get around 6db and other time I get 24.9db. Or is this just normal for the 10 day stabilisation process?

Thanks

Jeff

Re: Upgrade Query

Hi
No your noise margin should not change from 6 can you please post your hub stats and a bt speeedtest If you post the full stats from your router

For homehub – type 192.168.1.254 into your browser

Navigate to ADSL Settings or use the A-Z at the top right of the home page and scroll down to ADSL Settings and click on it

Click on More Details and then post the full results.

also post the full results from http://speedtester.bt.com/

or http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9354/c/346,4740,5520 and post the results .

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Then someone here can offer you advice

and this is the last speed test carried out

Download speed achieved during the test was - 1793 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 800-2000 Kbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :2240 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 256 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 1976 Kbps

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 189 Kbps
 Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 256 Kbps

The boardband was upgraded on Monday. As it is within the 10 day settle time would this be expected. The DSl connection rate and speed don't seam to have moved at all yet ?

Re: Upgrade Query

from the stats you have posted you have not been upgraded and are still on adslmax up to 8mb.  this is confirmed by your modulation of 992.1

are you connected directly to the test socket or master.  do you have any other sockets apart from the master in your home

try quiet line test  dial 17070 option 2  should hear nothing and best done with corded phone   if cordless dull hum is normal

Re: Upgrade Query

these stats are more or less what your would expect with an attenuation of 19.6. on adslmax ( probably 8128)

as I said you are still on adslmax as confirmed by your modulation but whatever has happened has had a really bad effect on your connection
