Hi,
So I moved into a new house. I ordered a BT TV, INTERNET and MOBILE SIM DATA PACKAGE....
The Sim came first several weeks ago which I am using. The Internet will be set up in my home next week and the TV shortly afterwards....
THE PROBLEM:
So my Sim data ran out. I get a message from BT saying: 'Your data has ran out, you will now be charged 10p per MB used'.....
So there I was expecting to still have the internet on my phone, getting charged 10p per MB, but instead my internet completely went from by smart phone. I am now stuck.... how the heck do I fix this when I have no internet setup in my home, live on my own and have no internet on my phone. There I was shouting at my phone WHY DID I SWITCH FROM GIFGAF!!! I shouted. GifGaf, when your mobile data is running out will just slow down your internet so that it's impossible to watch videos and web pages take a while to load, but you still have some internet connection so you can top-up if you are in a situation like I was in earlier.....
but no, BT don't even supply a weak internet signal for me?..... so I have to drive to Sainsburys and after faffing about for an hour outside Starbucks top my internet back up. What the hell BT ?!
I am not understanding why I didn't get the 10p per MB internet the message sent to me said I would be getting. The only thing I can think of as to why I didn't is because I hadn't set up a payment method yet. Can anyone confirm if this would likely be the reason? or was there something else I needed to do to make this 10p per MB work? as I was in limbo with zero internet connection.
Thanks.
I think you are probably correct in that if there no payment method set up on your account then BT cannot charge you the cost of any data you use. Need to phone BT 0800800150 or find a free wifi signal
Yeah, had to go to local supermarket to get free wifi and stand outside in the cold sorting it out.....
I topped up and set up a direct debit. Won't know until this next lot of data runs out whether the 10p per MB will automatically come into play or if I'll have the same issue of having to go to Sainsburys to top up again.
@surfer9 when you're up and running check that you have an extra spend limit set on your account because if it's set to zero it won't allow any extra charges to be added.
You can do this via the MyBT app
