I'd like to start using Outlook to manage my emails but I am worried that I will lose all my existing email folders (full of very important stuff). Is there a way that I can save the contents of my folders before starting to use Outlook, please?
Are you meaning the email client called Outlook or the email service Outlook.com?
How are you managing your emails at the moment. Are you usining webmail or an email client?

Not really. If you set Outlook up as IMAP, it will replicate what is on the server and won't delete anything.
Its a catch22 really as the only way you can backup the mails is to download them to your PC with a mail client.
I've gone over to using Outlook 2007 and all my folders download from BTMail servers.
I'd like to use MS Outlook (comes as part of the MS package). I did try it once and quite liked it but I lost all the emails that I had in my BTYahoo accounts - is that enough info?
It would appear that you want to use the Outlook email client. This is a seperate program that manages your email.
If you want it to retain all your BTYahoo folders you will need to set it up as an IMAP account. This will replicate all the folder that you see when you log onto your email via a web browser.
To see how to set it up have a look at these links

Thank you very much. I'm off to see if I can do this now. I'm very grateful
