Using PC prevents TV catch-up working

When we use the PC to watch any videos the catch-up on the tv downstairs stops working. It ceases to work for at least the rest of the day even after usign the PC. Any ideas please?

Welcome to this user forum.

Is it a BT YouView box you are using to view the catchup programs?

If so, is the YouView box connected directly to the BT Home Hub?

Sounds like you have an IP address clash, check your PC network adapter to see if its DHCP allocated, if not then change it so that it is

Re: Using PC prevents TV catch-up working

That depends on the operating system.

On Windows, go to network settings > change adapter settings > Right click on whichever adapter is in use, click Properties > Internet Protocol version 4 or 6 as appropriate > Properties > Obtain an Address Automatically > Click OK.

Incidentally, you should only have one DHCP server on your local network, if (say) you are using an old router as an additional wireless access point then make sure you disable one of the DHCP servers or you risk one device being allocated an address from one server whilst another device is allocated the same address from the other DHCP server
