Using an aftermarket router on 900/110

Go to solution

I'm not well versed in networking; do I need to connect my router in PPPoE mode or will DHCP work? I will not be using the Smarthub 2.

@licquorice

A few quick questions, sorry. I've read online that PPPoE adds massive overhead, and if your router does not have a hardware offloading option, it shouldn't be used with gigabit speeds. Is there a reason as to why PPPoE is recommended? Is it the only option available because BT wouldn't support any other protocols on aftermarket routers?

It is the protocol BT use, there is no choice in the matter.
