Using my Netgear AC1600 router with my recently installed BT Full Fibre 100 with BT Halo 1

Can you please tell me if I can use my Netgear AC1600 WIFI router with my recently installed  BT Full Fibre 100 with BT Halo ?

Reason for using the Netrgear router is because I want to get internet access data and it appears only Netgear (with OpenDNS) offers this facility. BT Smart Hub does not give me this information.

You can but you will also need to buy a separate modem first, your Netgear is just a router not a VDSL modem/router.

If you just want to change DNS, just change it on your device instead of automatically getting the DNS servers from the hub.

If you're on full fibre, just plug a network cable between the WAN port on the Netgear router and Port 1 on the optical network termination unit . Configure the Netgear internet settings as PPoE , with username bthomehub@btbroadband.com , no password.

It was a reasonable assumption - the majority of people on this forum would be on FTTC. Maybe it’s time BT set up a separate forum for FTTH..
