I bought a third party router the other week to use the qos features to improve my gaming experience. I knew I needed to buy a modem so I got an second hand BT Openreach modem plugged it all in and I got a WIFI signal but I couldn't get a internet connection. Plugging a ethernet port from my pc to the second slot on the modem I still didn't get a connection.
I would like to know what modem I should buy that works with BT.
(I bought a NetDuma router, I have Normal BT fibre at 70mbps down, 20 up)
The main problem in trying to solve is gaming while people are streaming. Games such as FIFA require a constantly low ping however when someone is streaming every 5-10 seconds it goes to 100+ ping for 2-3 seconds.
If you have fibre2 rather than G.Fast, the Openreach modem should have been fine. It should be plug and play, perhaps it was faulty.
when you connected your 3rd party router did you enter the username and password
password if needed - anything many just use BT
Do you have this one?
