Hi my wife has to use Cisco AnyConnect to connect to her corporate network. We have had problems with this previously when I had a ASUS router installed. After reluctantly swapping the ASUS out for a Smart hub all has been OK for a year or so. We have replaced the HH6 a couple of times when it has failed. Recently the latest Smart Hub was taken out by an electrical storm (along with most of our neighbours routers. A replacement has been fitted and configured the same as the failed unit but now we are unable to get a connection using Cisco AnyConnect. As soon as the AnyConnect establishes a connection the internet connection drops on the PC. the AnyConnect client still thinks it is connected.
Using an old HH3 with a Huawie modem does work but I don't really want o go back to that old kit. The last 3 Smart Hubs worked until they were replaced due to other failures. I also use several other VPN solutions as part of my work and they all still work fine.
I cant see why a like for like router replacement has caused this issue to reappear. There are loads of posts on here about Cisco Anyconnect problems but none seem to have a resolution.
Anyone got any ideas?

Two things to check.
Make sure you have turned off Smart Setup, and disabled BT Web Protect.
thanks Keith yes both Smart Setup and Web Protect are off.
However the problem is not quite as I reported. It seems that although I have a warning on the network icon the vpn is connected and after some more detailed testing it appears that my wife is able to access her corporate network.
The odd thing is that with the HH3 once the vpn connection is established the PC wireless network icon changes to a wired network symbol and is error free.
With the smart hub although the vpn seems to establish the network icon on the PC remains as wireless and has a warning that there is no internet connection on either the local (which I can understand as its not running split tunnel) or the corporate networks.
So some more investigation to do but not quite a s bad a first thought.
I am still experiencing issues with the Cisco Anyconnect VPN.
Fundamantally it works fine with my HH3 and Huawie modem but has errors if I use the Smart Hub.
I have checked all the limited configuration that is available on both devices but cannot find any differences.
Has anyone got any idea what the difference is between the 2 devices that may cause the lack of internet connectivity that I am seeing on the VPN?
Any other thoughts on why 2 previous smart hubs worked OK with Cisco Anyconnect but the latest one doesn't.
Regards
Chris
Perhaps Port Clamping was enabled on the other two but not this one?
Assuming you're running windows, the network map on the Network & Sharing Centre might offer a clue or troubleshhoting assistance
Port clamping on or off doesn't seem to make any difference.
Using the Windows network troubleshooting shows that the proxy server is not reachable. Which does of course explain the lack of internet connectivity.
However I have had multiple Smart Hubs and currently a HH3 which all worked or work fine but my current smart hub which doesn't.
I may try another Smart Hub or Hub 2 just to eliminate the Smart Hub itself.
thanks
Chris
Update:
The VPN is now working.
The workaround for this was to change the settings in Internet Explorer LAN setting to use a specified proxy server. The configuration on the laptop is set to Automatically Detect. Unfortunately this ahs to be applied every time the VPN is established but we will speak to my wife's IT dept. to see if this can be changed permanently.
Still at a loss to see why this was never a problem on my previous Smart Hubs or the HH3 but with the appropriate proxy server and port specified full VPN connectivity is available on my Hub 2 router.
Thanks
Chris
Hi
Please can you explain how to change the settings you have mentioned. I changed to BT SH2 yesterday and i am unable to access some of my work documents through corporate VPN. Also my fibre connection drops down drastically when connect to the VPN. I have been searching for a solution hoping your post might help me.
Many thanks
Hi the settings are made in Internet explorer or Edge advanced settings depending on which browser you are using.
The Proxy server settings need to be provided by your corporate IT dept.
Your issue does not look to be related to the proxy as you can see some of your work documents. This only seemed to be a problem with Cisco Any connect. I didn't see the issue on any other VPN solutions.
Hi,
I was having the same problem with my organization computer with Cisco AnyConnect. The solution was to disable the dual band operation on the router. Somehow the VPN client on my organization does not work well with dual band, so I disabled one of the bands (disabled 2.4GHZ) and it now works greatly, no more issues.
Give it a try.
