Hi all, I have run a telephone extension wire through my wall and to keep the hole small I have cut the plug off one end.
I had the intention to put a wall socket on but I am stuck on how to wire it up as the coluors are not as expected.
The wiring instrutions that came with the socket state that it should be wired as :
NO 1 GREEN/WHITE RING
NO 2 BLUE/WHITE RING
NO 3 ORANGE/WHITE RING
NO 4 WHITE/ORANGE RING
NO 5 WHITE/BLUE RING
NO 6 WHITE/GREEN RING
I only have : RED
Cleary I have used the wrong wire and It's too late to change it now.
Can anyone please tell me what colours go to what numbers?
Solved! Go to Solution.
As electrons aren't particularly fussy about the colour of the insulation connect the same numbers at each end with the same colour wire. Only connections 2 & 5 are required.
No, just try all permutations of 2 wires, polarity doesn't matter so only 6 possibilities to try.
Phones and broadband only use 2 wires. There are only 2 wires from your house to the cabinet/exchange.
