I got an engineer out today because of the noise on the line and he was very good. He replaced the cable from the pole to my premises and my sync speed has went up from around 2000Kbps odd to around 7000Kbps.
Whenever I do speedtests though, I get around 3Mbps, shouldn't it be higher than this?
Here's my stats, and also... if I did ever get up to 8Mbps, would I ever be able to get Infinity? My cabinet and exchange are enabled (definitely).
So my speedtests come up at about 3Mbps, what can I do to get it higher if the sync speed is near 7400Kbps
There are a lot of factors which can cause slow speed. Best thing to do is the following.
1. Post your HH2 stats along with uptime
2. Post results from www.speedtester.bt.com
3. Post results from http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search
Once we have all 3 we can help you determine the speed you 'should' get.
One thing to note is even if your sync rate is 7400 but your profile is 3000 then your speed will always be 3000.
I don't have a Home Hub 2 - I use a Linksys WAG354G
2) Unfortunately the speedtester doesn't work for my number, I use BT Retail and contacted the moderation team and they got back saying Wholesale have discovered a problem with my number so it's being worked on.
By the way, here's a speedtest.net result. http://www.speedtest.net/result/1171864419.png
Thanks for your help.
Everything looks spot on, do you have any extension leads in your home and is the router plugged into the master socket?
No extension leads - it isn't plugged into the master socket but as I said... I have been getting around 2-3Mbps for a few years but today an engineer came and replaced a wire from the pole to the premises and I am now syncing at 7Mbps... could it take a while for the IP profile to reset?
