Where are email tabs and quick search magnifying glass?

My email was updated to the new BT Mail out of the blue on Wednesday  morning, 20 May 2020. I   usually like updates because there are improvements. However I'm missing the ability to have several emails open at the same time in tabs (very useful). I'm  also missing the quick search facility that was the little magnifying glass next to the sender or the subject.  Are they hidden or have they gone?

There are no tabs. You can not have more than one email open at a time.

The search facility is at the top of the list of emails.

See link for "help and tips" although you may find some of them are no longer relevant because the email interface has been changed slightly since it was first introduced.

Thank you for your speedy reply. It's a shame as I am so used to having multiple tabs open to help me refer to messages.

Have you considered using a designed for purpose mail client rather than the abomination of webmail? Plenty of free ones to choose from, have a look at Mozilla Thunderbird.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am now using Thunderbird alongside BT Mail. It seems more responsive and has more functions that I find useful.

Hi, The "updated' BT mail is a giant leap backwards. Imaging not being able to have more than one email open or a search list disappear when one email is opened.  I wonder what hero decided to remove this functionality?

If you use one of the "Preview" views and double click on the email in the list it will open in a new window and you can have as many windows open as you want. You will however have to close them individually when you are finished with them.
