I've just had Infinity1 installed and need to redo my Access Point, as the wifi is still terrible downstairs.
When I set-up my TP-Link AP, I found the BTCare Community guide to an AP/Bridge I came across here invaluable, but I can't find it anymore.
Anyone know where it is?
Thanks. They look good, but I remember a specific BT forum guide that was great and was at my level. I thought I'd try to stick with what had worked in the past.
I can't remember exactly what I did, except it involved changing the port address of the laptop in order to access the AP, then changing the channel, password, etc of the AP and then restoring the laptop port to its default. It was all TCP/IP, subnet mask, SSID stuff, but I've forgotten it.
The guide must be lurking somewhere.
I hope my response wasn't viewed as dismissive - the last thing I want is to come across as rude.
When I set up my AP, I found a link in another forum that sent me to a posting here, where a mod had posted a detailed guide on setting up an Access Point and a Bridge. It was superb and I'd love to find it again.
I'm having a mental block with all of this.
I have a Win 7 laptop and the Home Hub 5.
I am not aware of any such guide. Which Access point are you trying to setup?
I did guides on the TP-Link TL-WA701ND version 1 (where you had to change the laptop settings), and version 2 which was easier.
The link I gave you was for version 2. If you have a version 1, then I still have the guide for that, but its not viewable on my website at the moment, as the version 1 is no longer available.
It's a TP-LInk TL-WA901ND 300Mbps and I'm now on a Win7 laptop with BT Hub 5.
I previously set it up on an XP desktop with Sky broadband.
Lan2 is the Ethernet to my laptop.
Lan3 is connected to the homeplug, with the other plug connected downstairs to the TP-Link AP (switched off at the moment)
Lan4 is connected to the BT Youview box.
Hope I haven't revealed too much here.
I think I'm going to need step-by-step instructions on setting-up the AP.
