Which discs to buy when using Smart Hub 2 and Digital voice

I have Ultra fast 900, with the black Smart hub 2 and also have digital voice with 2 of the WPS connected phones.
I do have Zyxel Multy X mesh network  devices but apparently I cannot use this with BT if I have the digital voice. Some folks have helped here saying i can use the Zyxel plugged into the ONT direct but that give me an issue with the phones not working whcih there seems ot be no way around..unless someone can advise?

So, I think tha leaves me with only the option of BT discs?

I have been looking at the BT discs and do not know whether to buy the Black Discs or the Premium White discs or the normal white discs. Discouonted the minis already.

Ideally I want as quick as speed in the house in all areas.

My current Zyxel (on another network in the house), works prefect for me and give me at least half the speed they provide (500 dropping to about 440) even further away, due to it being wired or using the wireless backhaul capability.

Which discs should i get to have a seamless one single wifi name from BT Smart Hub 2 that gets me very good speeds in all rooms and allows me to use the phones (unless there is another way as mentioend above).
I know speed will drop but dont want it to be like 10% of the speed you get with homeplugs I have used before.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks

T

Re: Which discs to buy when using Smart Hub 2 and Digital voice

maybe no one wants to stick their neck out for recommendations so can anyone tell me if the black discs that i can get via the store for around 100£ each, are tri band at least?

seems like the black discs will work ALONG with the Smart hub 2, rather than the white discs that REPLACEthe wifi of the hub.

if they are triband then it might go for them.

Thanks T

I'm not familiar with the Zyxel, but if it has bridge mode capability there is no reason you can't use it in conjunction with the hub and still have digital voice. It's no different to using the white discs.

To avoid any misconceptions, digital voice does not use WiFi, it is purely DECT. The SH2 has a built in DECT base station which is why it needs to be used if requiring DV.

Re: Which discs to buy when using Smart Hub 2 and Digital voice

the black discs i have been offered via My BT page, discs do not appear to come as part of the "complete wifi".
It doesnt suggest paying extra per month and are stand alone.
I had "glanced" at that thread (the one mentioning BT Plus) but i didnt see any mention of triband or wifi backhaul either. Mostly just people complaining about extra monthly cost which it doesnt seem to be an issue as it seems to be a one off payment.
i suppose if it is only a £5 per month that some people say i would be better renting them as it will mean i get 1,2 or 3 if required. I expect only one required though, along with the smart hub.
when i looked at other offers it was around £20-30 plus per month for a suggested Halo which came packaged with complete wifi...i dont need the Halo.

Re: Which discs to buy when using Smart Hub 2 and Digital voice

ah..i thought it used some wifi due to the WPS button being required during setup.

So, I can put the Zyxel into bridge mode and connect it to the BT Smart Hub 2 and then IF i can turn off the wifi in the Smart Hub 2, i should have the one network and digital voice still?

thanks,

Yep,it's a popular misconceptions due to the WPS button being dual purpose
