I will be contacting Nokia's CEO, as well as Gavin Patterson from BT, but all Nokia have to say is how come all other non BT carriers allow the update?
You can't argue the fact that the BT carriers are the ONLY ones the update doesn't work on.
This does not show a Nokia issue, but rather a BT issue.
By all means contact them both, it will be the only way you will get a final response to the matter. Keep me updated on the outcome I will be interested to see what they say or how you get it fixed.
Let me fire this again with a build number, and I’ll ask again. However if BT have not sold the handset then they wouldn’t have a reason to stop its updates. It may take a day or two for a reply I’m afraid if they reply at all. They may just go down the same line as previously.
Hi @Shwing,
Thanks for all your comments and I am sorry that you are not happy with the explanation that @Dean007 has posted. I can reaffirm what Dean has written is correct and accurate, BT are not blocking the update from Android to Nokia.
You have made an interesting observation in that when you remove the BT SIM and replace this with a SIM from another operator, the Android update comes through. I can see why you feel that this must be a BT issue but its certainly not conclusive.
I have spoken with the product team about this and they have confirmed that BT are not blocking the Android update on Nokia, I will however chat to them again next week to see if they can offer an explanation as to why it appears that only BT/EE connections are not getting the recent update. I am as curious as you in understanding this particular behaviour because it points to a BT issue
As soon as I have move info to share I will post back here.
Cheers
Sean
Many thanks Sean.
You have no idea how frustrating this is at present - Nokia are saying it's not them, BT are saying it's not them, and The Carphone Warehouse are saying it's software related so they can't do anything (which isn't the case, as I know under the Consumer Rights Act my purchase 'rights' lie with them) - basically everyone is trying to wash their hands of the issue!
It really is unbelievable that I (and many other Nokia / BT & EE users) are in this position.
I would love it if you could find out what the issue is, so if you think it's not somehow down to BT (I say this because, as you acknowledged it does seem strange that other networks aren't having an issue) then what is causing the problem?
My phone is now displaying an orange exclamation mark beside the security patch date 1st February - which means it knows something is not right.
Please please try and push this to find out what the issue is - I really would appreciate it!
Thanks.
Hi @Coloursund
Just to let you know the community manager is also looking into the issue and will post if he can find anything more out.
With it being the bank holiday it may take a day or so..
Good morning @Shwing
I completely get your frustration, especially as you appear to be caught in the middle
I hope to have an answer for you towards the middle to end of next week, as soon as I know more I will be back here to let you know.
Cheers
Sean
