Why does my new BT HomeHub 4 not apepar to be part of the BT WiFI community?

I have a new broadband line, 6 months old. I can't find the BT WIFI signal from it  to offer guests etc. to log into. When I use this link to enquire of its status:

https://www.bt.com/wifi/secure/statuscheck.do

I enter my BT ID email address and password for my broadband account as it requests but it says my email and/or password are incorrect. However they are perfectly OK when I log into my email or on to my BT ID account, so I know they are OK.

similarly, if I go to regster for BT WIFI at:

https://www.bt.com/wifi/secure/loginAction.do

the same thing happens.

Can someone please help me how to turn on the BT WIFI on my router? Thanks.

Re: Why does my new BT HomeHub 4 not apepar to be part of the BT WiFI community?

See link about BTWifi

http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11387/~/when-will-my-new-bt-hub-be-enabled-as-a-bt-wi...

BTWifi is meant for the use of the BT account holder while out and about. It is not a "guest network".

If you choose to use it as a "guest network" you should be aware that if you give your guests your BTID and password they could use your BTID and password to access your BT account and your main BT email account directly and by using your BTID and the could access any other BT email accounts that are associated to your BTID via your MyBT.

Re: Why does my new BT HomeHub 4 not apepar to be part of the BT WiFI community?

THanks for the link. THe term 'guest' I was using loosely in the sense that I am a 'guest' on some unknown person's BT WIFI Hotspot when I'm in the park logged on to their signal.

THe point of my post is about offering my hub for the same purpose. I can use other BT WIFi hotspots and in fairness I want to offer that to others as a community.

THe link you gave me does the same thing as the link I put in my original request for help. It says 'Authentication failed. Invalid username or password.' Given that there is a 'BTYahoo' logo on this page makes me think it's looking at the wrong servers. My BTID is a pure BT Mail address, not a BT Yahoo one.

Maybe I need to do a similar thing from my BT ID page?

Maybe I need a moderator to sort this out?

Re: Why does my new BT HomeHub 4 not apepar to be part of the BT WiFI community?

I've now had time to go into my BTID account, 'manage my extras', 'manage BT WiFI'

https://www.bt.com/appsconsumeraccount/secure/BTWifiRegistered.do?ServiceName=BTWIFI&Action=DOWNLOAD...

where xxxxxxxx is my account number

I've left the community and rejoined straight away as instructed. I'll now have to wait a day or two to see if my Hub turns on the BT WiFI signal.

Re: Why does my new BT HomeHub 4 not apepar to be part of the BT WiFI community?

I've waited over a week now and my hub is still not pat of the community since there is no signal from it claiming to be BT WIFI, or FON or any of those similar names. BT infinity has just arrived in my area and will hopefully be available in a few weeks, so then I'll get a different Hub, so I think I'll wait to see if that sorts it out. My Bandwidth here is usually about one Mb/s or at best 1.6, so maybe it won't provide a community signal with such a low bandwidth. Anyway, I'll leave this thread now as unresolved but closed.
