Why does the iPhone BT SmartTalk app want to access my location (Geofence)

At some point the SmartTalk app on my iPhone wanted to know my location, out of curiosity I allowed it. I'm wondering what it's doing with that information.

 

Checking further it appears to be using "geofence" which I believe notifies the app when it's in a particular area.

 

Why does SmartTalk want to know my location?

May be something to with this...

 

What's New

 

- New abroad reminder when you turn on your phone overseas

 

This app also logs in automatically to BT Wifi hotspots if in range, so may have something to do with that as well.
