What device are you using(I deduce some Apple device)? Which WiFi symbol do you mean? The one at the top of the screen on your phone that shows up when you connect to a network?
In “settings” do you appear to be connected to the relevant network? ie there is a tick next to it.
If this is so, I had the same problem on an iPhone.
It was caused by my VPN client trying (and failing) to auto-connect. The fix was to turn of auto connect, when all worked ok and then mark the network as trusted before putting auto-connect back on.
