My son has ordered a BT Wifi extender 750 for his bedroom due to poorish wifi speed on his PS4( already have one in another part of house. )
Was wondering if its wise to run an ethernet cable from it to the PS4 to give it a wired connection, or will that defeat the object of it being primarily just for wifi if, you get my meaning ,and best not to have it cabled ?
WiFi extenders usually perform badly, and connecting it via Ethernet will make little difference. They have to share a single 2.4GHz wireless channel, and can only operate at about half the speed and introduce extra latency. Not ideal for a gaming console.
A better option is a proper wifi hotspot device, which also has two Ethernet ports as well.

These do not rely on repeating an existing wireless signal.
Ideally you should connect the PS4 to a wired Ethernet cable that connects to you router or switch. Second best would be a wired Powerline connection.
