Have a Hub 4 currently and we still get a paltry 1.5-2GB broadband spped, will a Smart Hub imrove this at all?? Do you think BT will allow me to have one on a trial period to see if things improve at all and return it if not??
Solved! Go to Solution.
Its not likely to help, and it may make matters worse, as it has a wider broadband bandwidth to cope with VDSL, so you may get more sync losses due to interference.
I assume you mean 1-2 Mbs not GB

Broadband availability checker
Please remember to edit out your phone number before you post the results.
Could you please post the results from the BT Wholesale speed checker, including the further diagnostics.
Yes, sorry 1.5-2MBPS
What else can I try - have unplugged the landline from the master socket as we have no use for the landline other than the obligatory line rental charge?
Do any wi-fi boosters help? Am at the end of my tether a bit and am seriously considering satellite broadband providers.
Plug the phone back in and then dial 17070 (free), and select option 2, see if there is any noise on the line, as that will affect broadband speed.
Use the link I provided to tell you what speed to expect at your house.
Wifi boosters will not help if your basic speed is slow. What speed do you get if you connect your computer using an Ethernet cable to the home hub?

The Stop Sale date for Datastream is from 30-Jun-2012; the Formal Retirement date for Datastream is from 30-Jun-2014. It looks like its the best you are going to get, unless Openreach choose to install fibre cabinets near to you.
You could alway enquire.

OK, thanks for your help, we live so remotely that this is unlikely!!
So pretty much any new gear will not alter the feeble spped I have?
wifi-boosters, any other gadgets?
