Will this replacement modem/router work with Infinity?

Hi,

After spending hours trying to port forward on a Hub 5 Type A on BT Infinity, numerous calls, emails & tweets, I have given up with it ever working.

I have since discovered that a bug in Home Hubs that has existed since Home Hub 3 is causing the port forwarding to not take effect no matter what I do.

So my question is, will this modem/router

TP-Link TD-W8980 N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit ADSL2+ Modem Router for phone line connections (2 UBS Ports for Storage Sharing, Media/Print Server, IPv6)

work with BT Infinity

I want to be able to remove the Home Hub 5 entirely and use this.

Thanks in advance

It is a modem/router not a router

Re: Will this replacement router work with Infinity?

Infinity is VDSL2 not ADSL2+ so it needs a VDSL2 modem.

Ah **bleep**

Cannot find anything to replace the home hub until I can change ISP (stuck in 18month contract)

Re: Will this replacement router work with Infinity?

You could buy a HG612 v3B modem from an auction site for a few quid.

Re: Will this replacement router work with Infinity?

Nice suggestion, but it's just adding to the cost.

I'm actually stuck behind an unchangeable moderate NAT setting until I can leave BT.

I'm gutted as the speeds are incredible and reliable, but the router has a major bug that BT seem to be ignoring.

Shame really

Re: Will this replacement router work with Infinity?

Try ringing BT and asking for a modem then. The engineers still carry them on the van as other ISPs can't use the HH5.
