Re: Windows & iOS | Outlook Issues | IMAP Servers Not Responding

Hi @Proph,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post.

Sorry that you are having problems accessing your emails via email clients.

Have you been travelling or tried to access your emails outside of the UK lately?

Thanks

Matt

It is now day 8 without IMAP email access.

It's possible that your account has been blocked for client access, perhaps due to a system believing it's compromised. Have you by any chance been receiving non delivery reports for stuff you've not sent?

If this is the case, then the moderators need to have the system checked and get it unblocked. The system nearly always gets this wrong.

Re: Windows & iOS | Outlook Issues | IMAP Servers Not Responding

Hi Matt

When I was in the USA in October, my account (@btinternet.com) was blocked for suspicious activity, but a quick login having followed the link provided resolved the issue.  Last week I was in Europe and again the account was blocked, and again I followed the link to reactivate but this has not worked.

I have been back in the UK since January 5th and still the IMAP servers will not accept my password.

Can you resolve please?

Thanks

This sounds like the system thinks your account is compromised due to the different IP addresses trying to access the account - OK, it's over a few months, but different countries.

This could clearly happen again if you're in different parts of the world trying to access the account.

Have you tried clearing your browser's cache/history and cookies and/or have you tried a different browser?

Re: Windows & iOS | Outlook Issues | IMAP Servers Not Responding

Day 13.  IMAP issues remain.

Every suggestion offered (many thanks) tried without any success.  BT Technical Support has disappeared.

My hopes lie with the Mods...……..

Re: Windows & iOS | Outlook Issues | IMAP Servers Not Responding

I appreciate the advice given, but I strongly suspect this is not a client issue. I have seen several threads in the community dealing with the same issue. All are related to IMAP connectivity, or lack of it.

I have spent several days, including a web chat with BT and a provided support line that did not 'do technical stuff' trying to access a btinternet email account using the advice on BT web sites about the ports to use and linking with IMAP & SMTP and followed the instructions to the letter. Passwords are accurate as I have successfully logged on to webmail with them.

I have also now logged on the OUTLOOK 365 client to a gmail account, which took about 1 minute! This, I suppose, demonstrates that the 'client' is not the issue.

I am inclined to report a fault (which others have had no success with) but would ask any BT people on the moderator panel or elsewhere to use the facilities available to them to escalate this issue and resolve a lot of customer's issues.
